Dr Bafedile Chauke-Moagi

Bafedile is a highly qualified and experienced public health physician currently employed at Anglo Gold Ashanti as a Senior Specialist in Occupational and Public Health for the Continental Africa Region. She is responsible for planning, design, implementation and evaluation of health programmes for all AGA mining operations in Africa to address health risk, needs and priorities of employees, dependents and communities. This includes addressing malaria as one of the biggest health threat in the countries AGA operates.
She has extensive experience in epidemiology, infectious disease control, occupational and environmental health, health system strengthening as well donor fund management. She was previously with a PEPFAR-USAID partner agency in South Africa called Foundation for Professional Development (FPD), as the Head of the health system strengthening department.
Prior to that she worked for the World Health Organization (WHO) with responsibilities for the Immunization and Vaccine and Child Health Departments, tasked with providing specialist technical support to the South African government in the Immunization programme, surveillance of vaccine preventable diseases and child and adolescent health and survival. . Bafedile provided support on strategies for improvement of access to good quality health services, increasing coverage with lifesaving interventions; as well as ensuring compliance with international health regulations and meeting Millennium Development Goals. This included provision to South Africa as well as other countries in the Southern and Eastern sub-region of Africa in conducting childhood campaigns (polio, measles and LLIN distributions), introducing new vaccines, programme evaluation as well as health worker training.
She is registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Public Health Medicine Specialist with the following educational qualifications: Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB); postgraduate Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (DTMH); Diploma in Occupational Health (DOH); Master of Medicine in Community Health (MMed Community Health); Fellowship of the South African College of Public Health Medicine (FCPHM-SA).
