Eric has over 16 years’ experience in leadership and management roles, both local and international, in both surface mining and underground operations.
He joined AngloGold Ashanti (Obuasi Mine) in 2013 and was appointed the Managing Director in 2016. Before his appointment as Managing Director, he held roles as Senior Manager Finance, and Head of Operations and Corporate Affairs with responsibility for the operations on site, as well as managing the reputation of the company in-country.
Eric is currently the President of the Ghana Chamber of Mines.
Before joining AngloGold Ashanti, he spent about 10 years with Gold Fields in different capacities, including as Finance and Business Improvement Manager at Gold Field’s Agnew Mine in Western Australia and as Acting Finance Manager at Gold Fields’ Tarkwa Mine in Ghana.
He has played key roles in major restructuring programs in the mining industry, including the restructuring program at Gold Fields’ Agnew Mine (Western Australia) and the recent restructuring in Obuasi that has led to the redevelopment of the Obuasi Mine.
A chartered accountant by profession (Fellow, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK), Eric holds a first degree from the University of Ghana Business School, an MBA from the Manchester Business School, and a Graduate Certificate in Mining Engineering from the University of New South Wales (Australia).
